You can read Booklist's review of Alice in Charge on Amazon, and the School Library Journal review on bn.com. I figure that if I don't post them here right now, it's easier for people to avoid spoilers if they want to. Plus, I'm lazy. The SLJ review gets a character's name wrong, but at least it's not as bad as one of the reviews of Alice in Rapture, Sort Of was, back in the day. That one continually referred to Patrick as "Peter," although he's such a major character in that book that it couldn't have been easy to get his name wrong.
For those of you who can't wait, chapter 1 is up on Simon & Schuster's site. Here's the link: http://books.simonandschuster.com/Alice-in-Charge/Phyllis-Reynolds-Naylor/Alice/9781416975526/excerptThis is my first post here so I should introduce myself -- hi everyone! I've been reading Alice since I was about 11. I'm 27 now and still collect all the Alice books.
The Library of Congress cataloguing information for Alice in Charge includes the following summary:"Along with the usual concerns of senior year in high school, Alice faces some very difficult situations, including vandalism by a group of Neo-Nazis and a friend’s confession that a teacher has been taking advantage of her."Hmmm, I wonder what friend that is. It would be very ironic if it were Jill, but I don't think that it is. Not that I have any idea, really.
Checked the Amazon page for Alice in Charge and the cover is up:(better quality pic at link below)The book is due to be released on June 15, 2010 and you can pre-order it on the Amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/Alice-Charge-Phyllis-Reynolds-Naylor/dp/1416975527/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1258614148&sr=8-1I can't wait to read it!
I read Intensely Alice yesterday, and I liked it a lot, more than I liked Almost Alice, but I'm too tired right now to post about it, so I will tomorrow or on Monday. (I've had a cold all week, so lately I am tired all the time. It sucks.) Yes, the book did make me cry, though.
Hi, all! I remember hearing a while ago on babysittersclub that this community was going to be created (I guess I figured it would be announced, but I never saw anything... hmm, way to promote new members??), and I just now finally found it (yeah, a little slow on the uptake... I'm blonde).Anyway, I'm rereading all the Alice books in order (starting with "Starting With Alice") and I'm currently on "Alice In The Know". Unfortunately, I don't have the latest three, haha... but my birthday is soon and I'm asking for them. =)That's all for now. =)
A review from Booklist is now on the Amazon page for Intensely Alice, but don't read the review if you don't want any spoilers!
It's Alice's birthday!Maybe I should celebrate by pre-ordering my copy of Intensely Alice. :-)
Hey gals,I just wanna say thanks for starting this group. I have been following the Alice series since I was 13 and now I am OLD! :) I am looking forward to Intensely Alice as well!Looking forward to more updates!xxxxx
The excerpt from Intensely Alice isn't up on Simon & Schuster's consumer site yet, but you can find the first chapter on their site for booksellers. It's rather odd that Pamela jokingly suggests visiting a nudist colony as "something wild" to do that summer, when we know from Reluctantly Alice that she has already been to a nudist colony and didn't much like it. It's also kind of odd that they're still hanging out with the gang from Mark Stedmeister's pool this summer... because they don't really like most of those people. They don't really get along with Karen, Jill, and Justin anymore, and certainly not with Brian. Brian is a jerk. I like Mark, though, and I don't know how much Alice likes Keeno, but I like him because he amuses me and it's nice to have a relatively new character as part of that crowd, since he was only introduced in the last summer book.
